We are excited to offer on behalf of one of our customers, this excellent and fully sorted 1970 Porsche 911E Sunroof Coupe!

For many years, 2shores has been offering selected first grade examples of collectible automobiles. This outstanding 911E Coupe is one of those rare offerings!

History:
For model year 1970, the displacement of all 911 engines was increased to 2,195 cc with 84 mm bore x 66 mm stroke.
Power outputs were uprated to 125 hp in the 911T (911/03 engine, Zenith 40TIN), 155 hp in the 911E (911/01 MFI), and 180 hp in the 911S (911/02 MFI).

Despite the lower maximum power output of the 911E compared to the 911S, the 911E was quicker during acceleration up to 160 km/h (99 mph), because the higher torque in the high rpm range of 911S was not enough to offset the higher torque in the low/mid rpm range of the 911E. The Porsche factory team used the 911E in rally events, where a wide power band is more advantageous, and the 911E was called the “Secret weapon from Zuffenhausen”!
Only 667 911E Coupes were produced for 1970 and very few with a sunroof!

This car:
Our car on offer is a fully numbers matching 1970 2.2l E Sunroof Coupe finished in stunning light yellow (6262) over black leatherette interior.

This stunning example is a very special car to us. The car has been sold by Vasek Polak to its first owner in San Diego in 1970.
It has been owned for the past 25 years by two very good friends and fellow Porsche collectors in the Midwest. After spending time with an airline pilot in the 90’s it was sold to Wisconsin in 2000 and the car came to renowned Porsche air-cooled master mechanic Larry Marzano in 2007. Larry was considered the air-cooled pope by many 911 enthusiasts and his knowledge, craftsmanship and attention to detail was unmatched. He took care of this 911E as his personal car for many years and rebuilt the engine and transmission in 2016. This was a case out rebuild to stock configuration with a Solex cam for even more mid-range torque. Larry went through the whole car and set this up to perfection. Unfortunately, Larry passed away much too soon in 2021 and this wonderful car was hardly driven after the rebuild. This 911 is mechanically 100% sorted and runs and drives absolutely flawless. We can personally attest to that, as Larry’s widow was kind enough to let my son and I use it on a 3500 mile round trip from Wisconsin to New Mexico for an R-Gruppe event last year. We named the trip Rallye Marzano in Larry’s honor and we had a blast! See some cool photos of the trip in the gallery.

The car is an absolute joy to drive, it handles like an early Porsche 911 should and never missed a beat, climbing up to 10k feet over the Million $ Highway in Colorado and down to valley levels again without any hesitation.

The paint on the car is over 25 years old and still stunning. Aside from a few rock chips on the front (see close up in gallery), it is fantastic with excellent gaps and shut lines and a wonderful shine.

Larry opted to put two Recaro sport seats in the car (which we so appreciated on the long trip) but the original seats will also be sold with the car. Also, the original 14inch Fuchs wheels are still with the car, but it rides and looks much better on the currently mounted 15’s.

Not a drip of oil, less than 6k miles on the drivetrain and a beautiful rust-free light yellow body with a sunroof. Early long hood 911s do not come much nicer than this.
It comes with factory tools, a spare and a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity along with many documents and receipts for service over the years. At the time of this writing, the jack is not present, but potentially can be located.

This is a very rare opportunity to acquire one of the very best 911E Coupes on the market in a super cool period color and maintained by the best in the industry!
