1988 924 S Special Edition Coupe
This week, Canyon State Classics brings to market an exceptional 1988 Porsche 924S Special Edition Coupe in A1 Black with just under 33K miles! The 924S was a limited production with only 980 units produced worldwide and approximately 500 for the North American market. All NA cars were delivered in Black with maroon carpet and grey/maroon cotton seats and door panels, along with crank windows, and manual mirrors for weight savings. These cars were further equipped with suspension upgrades, subtle body enhancements and the 1988 high-compression engines rated at 160hp. All 924S’s headed state-side also received power steering, Blaupunkt radio and AC. In 1988 the standard 924S had a base price of $19,995, the special edition added approx $6000 to the sticker price. Today, most of these cars have disappeared into collections or wrecking yards, with very few examples currently available. The car has been paint metered and is certified all original. The body on the car is laser straight, and does not have even a single door ding, or scratch! This car has just been through our detail department for a full cut and buff- the paint looks great and has held up very well. It is clear this car has been garaged and well-cared for. All of the moldings and trim look excellent and the car retains all of its original Sekurit glass. This Porsche is riding on OE 15" “phone dial” wheels. They were recently refinished and are sporting a set of Uniroyal Sport Radials. The SE interior is in excellent condition. The color combination specific to the special edition is very indicative of 80’s styling with rich maroon carpet and light cotton-cloth seats. The seats are in good condition with very little ware of any kind. Per the previous owner, the seats were recovered due to age deterioration and all efforts were made to keep it as OE as possible. Correct replacement fabric was sourced from Germany. Everything works in the car…lights, gauges, radio, seats, windows, locks, a/c blows ice cold, etc. The original dash has suffered some cracks and is adorned with a black dash cap. The original factory Blaupunkt stereo sounds great for nearly 30 years old! A set of correct maroon mats compliments this rare interior. Mechanically, this Porsche is in great condition and boasts the service records to back it up. This car sports the upgraded 160HP 4-cyl that really makes this 924S scoot thanks to the power and weight reduction! The car has a very strong 5-Speed transmission that shifts perfect. The car has just been serviced via our shop by our Master Technician who worked at the Porsche dealer when these were new!
