900 Tourist Delivery
The Porsche Speedster was produced between January and September of 1989 to commemorate the 356 Speedster made famous in the 1950’s. It featured a cut-down windshield frame, a lightweight convertible top and humpback fiberglass covering over the rear seat area and the turbo-look body. 823 examples were delivered to America. They were the last cars built at the old 911 body plant. The Speedster had a base price of $65,480 compared to the Cabriolet price of $59,200.
Most of the Speedsters were delivered in Guards Red, Grand Prix White, Black and Silver Metallic. Only 6 U.S. examples were produced in Baltic Blue Metallic. The Speedster is a limited production model. Combined with the turbo look body, the Speedster offers an attractive and rare Porsche representing the pinnacle of 911 design.
The original owner purchased this Baltic Blue Speedster after a close friend saw the unveiling in Germany at an auto show. The original owner ordered this Baltic Blue example from a Connecticut dealer with the tourist delivery option. The second owner in Raleigh, NC owned the car from 2000-2006 and the third owner, from Lexington, VA from 2006-2015. The current and 4th owner, John Truban, owner of Truban Motor Company purchased this Speedster after a 15 year long search for a Baltic Blue Speedster. Being 1 of only 6 Baltic Blue Speedsters delivered in the U.S. that made the search very difficult. The car has remained in our Collection since 2015. This unique Porsche has been shown and displayed at a variety of Concours where it has been awarded a variety of awards, including Best in Class. This example currently has 15,945 miles and has been maintained to the highest standard.
