We are excited to offer on behalf of one of our customers, this extremely rare and highly desirable 1988 Porsche RUF BTR III from private collection.

For many years, 2shores has been offering selected first grade examples of collectible automobiles. This outstanding RUF BTR III is one of those rare offerings!

The RUF BTR (Gruppe B Turbo RUF) is a sports car built by German automobile manufacturer RUF Automobile. The BTR began production in 1983 and was based on the Porsche 911 (produced from 1978–1989) available in a narrow 911 or optional wide body configuration akin to the 930 Turbo. The BTR was the first RUF production sports car with a company specific VIN.
Construction of each vehicle began at the bare chassis level. About 20–30 cars were built this way, probably even more were converted from customer cars, though no clear records exist to signify the total number of cars produced.

The initial BTR was powered by a 3.4-litre, flat-6 turbocharged engine, producing 374 PS (275 kW; 369 hp) at 6,000 rpm and 480 N?m (354 lbf?ft) of torque at 4,800 rpm. It came standard with a five-speed manual transmission, though a six-speed transmission became available in 1988 upon request. Other changes included bigger brakes and a stiffer suspension system.
Changes done to converted customer cars included a Ruf 5-speed manual transmission, quad-pipe exhaust system and many more options depending on customers orders. Each BTR was unique and built to customer order.
The highest evolution of the BTR is the BTR III which used The Bosch Motronic rather than the K-Jetronic of the earlier cars. Horsepower output was now at 408 hp which propelled the BTR III in little over 4 seconds from 0-100km/h and a top speed of well over 300 km/h. This over 30 years ago!!

Our car on offer is a completely documented 1988 RUF BTR III and with the current private owner for over 10 years.

The history of the car started on July 21, 1988, when the first owner Manfred Schott (born in 1941) from Bad Dürkheim took delivery of his new Turbo. For undocumented reasons, Mr. Schott sold the car after just a few months.
The Zierer & Co company from Offenberg acquired the Turbo and registered the car in Dillingen/Donau on February 2, 1989.
The Porsche changed hands again in June 1989, Peter Giandomenico (born 1945) from Munich purchased the Turbo from MAHAG Munich on June 28, 1989 with 22,778 kilometers for a price of 143,110 DM.
By May 23, 1990, Mr. Giandomenico had covered 5,521km with his Turbo.
On this day a service was carried out at MAHAG Munich.

In 1991, with a mileage of 33,058 kilometers, Mr. Giandomenico brought his Turbo to RUF in Pfaffenhausen for conversion into the legendary BTR III. On June 6, 1991, a performance measurement of the 3.4 liter turbo engine was carried out and a performance protocol was created.
On June 19, 1991, the invoice for 78,532.89 DM followed. The performance must have convinced Mr. Giandomenico, because he only needed 5 months to drive 9,530 kilometers.
The first service took place on November 22, 1991 at 42,588 kilometers. In the years that followed, the owner only drove the car in the summer months and the Porsche was stored in the winter months. The car was regularly brought to RUF for service and repairs, all work is documented with original invoices from RUF. The last invoice to Mr. Giandomenico was issued on October 9, 1998 and shows an odometer reading of 66,136 kilometers.

The car was stored again for the winter months on October 6, 1998. In April 1999, the last owner listed in the title, Mr. Josef Endress (born 1949) from Wertingen, purchased the car and initially had it serviced.
The approval then took place on June 23, 1999 in Dillingen/Donau. Mr. Endress also only drove the car during the summer months; the Turbo was always retired in the fall and not driven in the winter time. The Turbo continued to be regularly serviced and repaired by RUF.
A large number of invoices document the work and mileage.

In the summer of 2013, after years of pure driving pleasure, Mr. Endress sold the car to the current owner with the mileage at 93,000km. The Turbo went into a personal collection and has not been registered since. The car has been regularly serviced between 2013 and today; all work, including a partial engine overhaul, was carried out by RUF.
The last service was carried out at 96,593 kilometers in June 2020 at RUF. The current mileage is 96,792km (60495 mls). In contrast to many other RUF Porsches, this RUF Turbo has had an easy life and was never driven hard. All of its owners were adult gentlemen and Porsche enthusiasts or collectors.

The car received regular maintenance and care and all upcoming repairs were carried out without compromise. And all of this not from just anyone, but from its creator, the RUF company. All features documented by RUF are available. The Porsche is largely in original paint with partial touch ups by RUF as a result of stone chips. Everything is documented with invoices. This exceptional RUF Porsche shows almost no signs of wear, despite being in largely untouched original condition.

A wonderful opportunity to acquire one of those rare and legendary RUF BTR III examples and likely the best documented anywhere.
