1982 Porsche 911 SC Targa
3.2 SOHC Flat Six Engine, 240 HP (est.)
Five Speed Manual Transaxle
VIN: WP0EA0912CS162042
132,000 Miles

The “Super Carrera” ushered a more simplified 911 range into the 1980s. A 3.0L engine and rear flares were standard for all, and it’s been said that the 911 would have ended here if not for continued enthusiasm from the Porsche brass. The 911SC remains an air-cooled favorite, as seen with the many restorations, builds, and spirited drivers on the road today.

In black with a tan interior, this SC Targa (“G body”) was purchased by the current owner in May, 1998, and has been improved and well maintained ever since. The engine was totally rebuilt in 2007 (at 92,946 mi), by Tim Pott (a premier engine builder and tuner, former SCCA race car builder, driver, and former PCA Rally Sport Region President), with new JE pistons & Perfect Bore cylinders, Increasing the displacement from 3.0L to 3.2L, with a compression ratio of 9.5:1. PMO carburetors replaced the mechanical fuel injection (original included). Higher performance Webcam camshafts, MSDS ignition, Magnecor plug wires, and distributor re-mapping were added, resulting in an estimated 240 HP, with a 0-60 MPH acceleration time of 6 sec., and a top speed of 140 MPH. It is a strong runner.

The transmission was rebuilt in 2014 at 125,596 miles, with new main shaft and pinion bearings, and all new seals. The suspension is moderately lowered, with new Polybronze control arm and spring plate bushings, followed by a four wheel alignment. SSI heat exchangers and a Dansk free flow muffler have been fitted. An air to fuel ratio gage was added to the center console. A modern audio head unit with Bluetooth has been added. It recently received a thorough inspection and the following items were replaced: spark plugs, wheel speed sensor, valve cover gaskets, drive belts, oil and filter. It has also recently received a new battery, new hood struts and tires (Michelins, since photos taken).

Disclosures: While the body is original and unmolested, there are the usual stone chips on the hood, a scrape mark on the driver side rear fascia side, and normal patina overall. The A/C is all there, but not blowing cold (it won’t hold a charge, now awaiting area shop schedule to assess/repair). The speedometer recently started reading erroneously, e.g., at speeds above 60 mph, and despite several attempts, has not achieved accuracy. The tachometer and all other gages work fine. The interior is in very good condition, with no dash pad cracks, seat splits or excess wear.

All service records & receipts since 2007 are included, as is a four binder set of Porsche Workshop Manuals. A clean Carfax report is available, with no accidents or damage reported and the car has a clear MI Title.

Located in Dexter, MI area, this higher performance 911 SC Targa is offered at
