1972 914/6 Conversion
This project started in October 2000 with a raggedy but rust free 1972 body shell and boxes of various 914 and 911 parts. Donor cars included 1973 and 1975 914’s plus a 1970 911T which contributed the motor, front suspension, brakes and 5-bolt cookie cutter wheels. The 2.2L flat six air-cooled motor was rebuilt with 911E pistons (+1mm), E cams and E distributor fired by MSD CD ignition. Retained the triple Zenith downdraft carbs for estimated 160 HP in a 2300 lb car. The side shifter transaxle has a racing pattern and taller 5th gear. Everything is new or rebuilt. Both rocker and rear stiffening kits are welded in. Front oil cooler and AC condenser with under dash AC. Much more. Many conversion parts from Patrick Motorsports. Drive train assistance from Don Jackson Enterprises. Paint by DeVries Custom Coachworks. On the road ~ 4 years, 5700 miles. Many notes and 914/6 conversion information, pictures and all receipts. Almost $70k invested.
