There it goes again, once more around Laguna Seca’s 2.238-mile-long track, blowing by the competition. Not much can keep up with “The Last 935,” which looks like a normal 935 but actually is part American-built, tube-frame race car and part Porsche 935.

During practice and qualifying sessions on October 14-15, American Le Mans Series Driver Johannes van Overbeek kept the Coca Cola-liveried Porsche-Fabcar at the top of the charts — and you’ll see why in the following video. With around 700 horsepower on tap and a professional race car driver behind the wheel, it was one of the fastest cars on track.

You can read more about Rennsport Reunion IV in Johannes van Overbeek’s article, “700 Horses and Four on the Floor” and Ted West’s “Snap Shot,” in Excellence February 2012, issue #198.
